The Midwest Institute for International/Intercultural Education(MIIIE) is a self-funded consortium of two-year colleges
located in the Midwest region. Its primary objective is to support curriculum and professional development by organizing
curriculum workshops, fall and spring conferences, overseas projects for faculty and students, assistance with grant
development, provide faculty mentoring and professional networking.

- May.12th 2009:
Three weekly workshops will be offered at Kalamazoo Valley CC, in Michigan in summer 2009:
1) Global Poverty and Inequality, Monday-Friday, August 3-7, 2009.
2) World Food, Water and Energy, Monday-Friday, August 10-14, 2009.
3) South East Asia, Monday-Friday, August 17-21, 2009.
Each workshop is limited to 15 faculty.

- May.12th 2009:
The Midwest Institute is planning to submit five Fulbright GPA projects to the U.S. Dept. of Education for summer 2010: China, Czech Republic, Japan-S.Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
For each project 15 faculty will be selected to participate in the overseas trip and undertake curriculum and professional development.

- May.12th 2009:
In fall 2009 and spring 2010, the Midwest Institute will sponsor two Chinese scholars from Northwest University (Xian, China) and a scholar from the University of Michigan to offer a series of lectures and a traveling exhibit on "Chinese Writing and Calligraphy".

- May.12th 2009:
The Midwest Institute has agreements, which will allow faculty in our consortium to teach in China during the winter (February-June, 2010) or summer (May-June, 2010) terms.
The three universities are: 1) Xian International Studies University (in Xian), 2) Guangxi Normal University (in Guilin), and 3) Bao Ji University (in Bao Ji).
